Hello everyone, it was brought to my attention that David Obuchowski (Automotive writer, Jalopnik contributor and Tempest podcast host) is coming to Vancouver for a few days so I reached out to him to ask if he wanted to grab a few beers with fellow Jalops/Oppos. He’s down for it.

He’s in Vancouver on 27th through to the 30th of June with the 28th and 29th being full days and will also be going to Victoria and Chemainus. So we’re having it on the 29th since that seems like the best day for everyone so far. Also, he’s looking to see if anyone has a story for Tempest in BC/Canada.

I feel like Granville Island is probably a good location, most of us know where it is and it is more car friendly than some places in Vancity. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Lowest underground level of the parkade accessed off Old Bridge Street, approximate address is 1450 Old Bridge Street. Just keep driving down until you hit the bottom. If your vehicle doesn’t fit or we need more space due to how busy the island is, we can park across the street.

Yah, knowing what we do now, I’d be down for Granville island again. Granville island is also more car friendly, that parking garage is always empty

Nice story about your truck. I have a similar experience with my Mopar too. It was my grandmother’s DD for years, inherited a rust bucket, restored and used on my wedding day. Just need to replace the fuel pump (new one is sitting in my hallway, just need to find the time) and I get to take my daughter for her first drive in the car.

Would you prefer an rsvp now if we want to go but probably can’t? Or would you prefer we say nothing then just show up if we can go after all?

9 hour drives and such. Generally I don’t plan things more than a few days in advance. Would likely be showing up in a five-speed ZJ if I do, I doubt I’ll have the Niva inspected and legal by then or I’d come in that.

I commuted through the massey for just over a year and then moved so I didn’t. I used Waze every single drive going to and from work.

It was quicker for me going home to take the pattullo during most afternoons (Friday was a given) even though the commute was 20km longer. Tuesday 1am was like 40min, Friday 3pm was 90min if there was no accident (every accident was +30min).

Well, I’m 20 miles north of Seattle and like to go to BC (I’m Canadian) but the traffic is horrible even by Seattle standards. I’ll only go to Vancouver if I absolutely have to. Something has to be done about that god awful tunnel
